“How to stop worrying and start living” by Dale Carnegie, Chapter-7: Don’t let the beetles get you down!

As the phase goes “We are stronger than we think”

We often worry a lot, but not for big things those small things that have little or no effects on us. Be it the weather is too hot, the stock market crash, or the imperfections of our co-workers.
In this chapter, the author explains how little worries often lead us to insanity.

He explains how a giant tree which was 400 years old, stands upright in heavy storms, floods, heat waves and lightning blasts over 4 centuries. But when a group of small beetles resides there, they destroyed the whole tree. Such small beetle which can be crushed by humans, collectively destroyed a 400-year-old tree.

When I was in CA. Intermediate, I became conscious about the timings of my meals, study and sleep to achieve peak productivity. But when things went slightly another way, I was frustrated and annoyed which further ruined my day. Small things started bothering me and I started losing the bigger picture of my purpose.

Then I realized in the past I had conquered much bigger problems and learned to forget to worry about small imperfections.

Let’s not allow ourselves to be upset by small things we should despise and forget, “Remember, life is too short to be little!”
