Psychological effects of the minimum stipend in CA course

Being in the CA course for the last 4 years got me thinking that life always has give-or-take circumstances. The Chartered Accountancy course is one of the top finance professional courses in India and I am in the CA final level which many students dream of.

Another dream of every CA student in his articleship (3-year Training) period is to increase their stipend.

After looking at a (same age) law graduate’s offer letter from a recognised listed company of Rs. 15,75,000/- per annum and we are earning Rs. 1,500/- per month, we all can imagine the next sentence- (Bhai, hamara kya hoga!)

Today, I want to discuss the psychological effects of the ICAI minimum stipend on CA students.

1. Bro, never compare yourself!

We all have this motto to never compare ourselves with someone, “It will only bring more sorrow in life.” Let’s be honest, competition is the motivating factor of 95.56% of people who wake up early and run for their aim.

Our human society has progressed because we want to create something good that others can't even think of. Without competition, we all will become lazy (Just look at fixed-job government employees)

2. Impact of “Minimum stipend” on CA (aka. our principal)

We have all heard of minimum marks of 33, what if a person with 33 marks gets the same reward as a person with 97?

The word “minimum” itself is devil, a person tends to relax and become lazy when he achieves the minimum level.

3. 1st year – Rocket, 2nd year – Car, 3rd year – Phuss!

Let me be straight, the minimum stipend is not sustainable for 3 years.

In 1st year, we get the motivation as we are amateurs and willing to work even 16 hours a day (No worry about money). In 2nd year we are willing to work but watching our parents still spending money for us (My whole point to pursue CA was to be self-sufficient). 3rd year feels like Tihar Jail (No offence intended).

(Views are personal, no intention to deceive anyone's feeling or work)
