“How to stop worrying and start living” by Dale Carnegie, Chapter-4: How to analyze and solve worry problems?
1000 years ago, thinkers were the noblest persons in society, who used to advise kings and rulers, read books and hunt for new ideas. In the age of information, doers/ users of noble ideas are great because ideas are now just a Google search away. Just by thinking not acting you will welcome worry in your life.
In this chapter, the author explains how to analyze and solve worry problems. He provided a simple yet effective manner to solve problems.
As Simon Sinek named a book on this idea, “Start with why!”, Elon Musk learned about asking better questions when he was searching for the meaning of life.
Every solution to the problem is started by asking good questions. So, make What? Why? How? When? Your best friends.
The author asked the reader to ask questions- What are the problems? and insisted to get to know about the problem by gathering unbiased, objective facts about the problem. If you are fat, what is your routine that leads you to become fat? And so on! First, get the facts.
Then analyze them as if you are a lawyer trying to defeat your worry. Believe as if it’s not your problem, it’s someone else and you are his adviser. When you recognize the core problem, act on it because if you further analyze it, you will be confused.
“Focused walk is always better than confused running”
As Gautam Adani said “Sometimes it’s better just to act on available information than to further analyze”
Being a CA. student, I am almost always filled with worry, be it study or office. I learned in the process if you have 10 minutes to act on something, use 3 minutes to plan your activities and 7 minutes to work as if you don’t care about the outcome of the work.
