How acting dumb between professionals helped me?

Back in 2017, when my laptop goes bad, I convinced my dad to purchase me a new gaming laptop. I was so excited and researched all the specs, features, generations & graphic cards.

I was pretty good at understanding the user requirements and suggesting a laptop based on one’s budget.

I bought a Dell 5577, in 2019 my girlfriend needed a new laptop and she knew (obviously) I am a tech nerd, so she asked me to suggest one. I did all the research based on her requirements, when I went to the market, the first time I tried to act dumb, and talked like a layman.

Some salesmen just want sales, and now Jordan Belfort (Wolf of wall street) can’t become a wolf just by selling crap. In the age of information, the consumer is king. But those who provide knowledge of the technology properly, without pushing me to buy. I recommended that shop to my girlfriend.

When you act dumb and be silent, it gives another person to fill your gap of silence and try to become an expert in your eye, in trying to fill the silence, they often show their intentions or true character.

In a world where people are trying to deceive customers, try to give long-term knowledge, and build relationships.

That explains why influencers tend to sell to their audience very easily.

In the age of information, never try to push our products. Recently I saw a YouTube page of go-mechanics (a start-up offering repairs of the vehicle at home), impressed by their quality content. Same as Zerodha with the varsity. Digital marketers called this content marketing.

But now it’s a business necessity.
