Why do we never forget to brush our teeth?

You could not remember a single day you spent without brushing your teeth, it’s a 3–5 minute ritual that everyone follows.

Let us discuss the science behind it!

First, we have to discuss habits, how they are formed, how we stick to them, and why they are so hard to change.

There was an experiment on keeping a human baby with a monkey baby, scientists thought that keeping a monkey with a human would teach a monkey to behave and talk like a human, but after a few months they immediately shut down the experiment!

Why?

The human baby starts behaving like a monkey. But why monkey baby didn’t learn to behave like a human? This is because of our brain's ability to change itself and adapt according to the environment, the monkey has this ability but it's weaker than humans.

I mean you could learn a new language, but it would be impossible for a monkey to learn a language.

Our brain is like a sponge, it absorbs knowledge quickly and tries to keep the memory of it effectively. But we tend to take it for granted.

Do you remember when your mom used to force you to brush your teeth first thing in the morning, she rewired your brain and help to learn a good habit of brushing your teeth regularly, unconsciously she knew the science behind it!

But she will not force you to work on your goals or go to the gym, now it's your responsibility to make good habits! There is a YouTube video named Choice (by Project Better self) which helped me to understand the power of habits.

If you just acknowledge the concept of brain plasticity (the ability of the brain to change) you will never be stuck in life, because subconsciously you know the fact that you can change your situation just by changing your state of mind.

Hope you could understand, why we never forget to brush our teeth!
